Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship hosted a talk on “Practical Applications of Big Data Analytics” by Mr. Akash Bhatia, Co-founder & CEO of Infinite Analytics on 5th November 2015 at the Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus. Over 300 students attended the talk along with Heads of Institutions and faculty members. Mr. Bhatia started the talk by stating that data was growing exponentially and that 90% of the world’s data was generated in the last two years. Mr. Bhatia spoke at length on the immense scope and potential of data analytics in various fields of Finance, Healthcare, Manufacturing and Education. He cited various examples on how data analytics helped to understand consumer behavior resulting in making personalized recommendations for the client. He said it was important to understand what you can do with data and what data can do for you. He also answered a lot of questions from the students and faculty on the technical aspects of his business. He urged budding entrepreneurs to be resilient and said that patience and perseverance were the two most important qualities for success.

Akash Bhatia graduated from MIT Sloan School of Management in 2012 and co-founded Infinite Analytics. At Sloan, Akash was the recipient of the Legatum Fellowship for starting businesses in low-income countries. Prior to MIT Sloan, Akash co-founded India’s first and largest ticketing company, KyaZoonga (www.kyazoonga.com) in 2007. Prior to KyaZoonga, Akash held various positions in software development and technology at Oracle and PeopleSoft in Silicon Valley.
